ELP does support an automatic roll selection for HP Large Format Printers. ELP finds the largest position sequence in the data stream, and dependent on the results some Job initialization commands are inserted.

ELP supports 3 key definitions, usually set in the GLOBAL or in the printer name section of the ini-file.

MULTIROLL_1 Widh of paper in mm which is loaded in roll 1
MULTIROLL_2 Widh of paper in mm which is loaded in roll 2
MULTIROLL_3 Widh of paper in mm which is loaded in roll 3

The routine assumes that the printer is rotating the job to fit optimal on the paper. So ELP selects the closest X or Y width to the paper width of the roll.

The following commands are analysed:

  • GL2: All absolute line and positioning commands
  • GL2: Pen UP and Down
  • GL2: Arc
  • GL2: Text positioning commands
  • RTL: Text positioning
  • RTL: Destination Width and Height commands

Independent if the functionis turned on or off, ELP will generate the variables #VAR_GL2MAX_X# and #VAR_GL2MAX_Y# in mm for storing the plot size e.g. in the accounting file.
