Today the PDF file format is widely used to generate portable documents.
By converting the PCL - Printer Command Language data stream (5 and 6, color and mono) into the PDF format, ELP is able to archive and/or PreView any document in PDF format, as well to send it by e-mail or Fax.
The Rule assistant offers therefore easy to use menus or just check button to activate it.
The used PDF converter is already installed in a demo version, printing in unlicensed mode generates just a watermark on every PDF page. The converter is licensed once per server, and ELP usually needs the SND module license.
There is one key to configure, how ELP has to convert the data stream, and the default settings are
PDF_Arguments=-dVersion:14 -z -*c -*d -*e -*f -q -g
For color data streams and related to the used driver, it is sometimes pretty tricky to get good color proved results. In that case maybe print the stream to file (need help) and try for best results, using the installed Windows based GUI. Simply change the setting parameters before running the next conversion.

When printing with Acrobat Reader Professional the PDF converted files, sometimes display flattening IS SEEN on the screen and it takes ages to print the file. Solution to this: When a PDF file includes transparencies, Acrobat must "flatten" the image, in order to put all of the "layers" into one layer.
Acrobat Professional includes an option for varying the degree of flattening. Acrobat Standard and Reader do not have this option. Here are some information on the Adobe website.
In most cases move the described slide to the left and the speed will improve the behavior of Acrobat printing speed and the visual appearance. -
By default the PDF converter uses the same unprintable area like the LaserJet (4Plus). When you have a Edge2Edge printed data stream, also setup the PDF_Argument in the rules section. Then beside the conversion to PDF 13. also E2E printing is enabled.
