Are the Buttons New, Copy, Edit etc. missing?

This option can be used to apply certain predefined rules to IBS (Intelligent Barcode Solution). Mainly they are used for debugging problems, but also later in the initial full release several useful function settings will become available.

Important: Once a Quickset is set, it is downloaded to the file system of the printing device.

Select the device to which you want to apply a Quickset.

The device table of the Quickset menu shows only the devices, which

  • had been found during the last network scan and
  • are currently running IBS in demo or full licensed mode.

Is a certain device missing from the table, please check the device and make sure that

  • it is powered on and
  • be sure the IBS is installed and runs minimum in demo mode.
  • after that maybe rescan for devices on the network.
Quicksets available This list displays all available Quicksets. After a set is selected, the description is displayed on the right-hand side.
Technical description Some Quicksets, mostly emulations, have their own technical pages. This is where you can bring them into your browser.
If the link is not displayed, there is no documentation available.

Note: The key REM in section global with the syntax:
Rem=IBS_CC:ManualLink=http://www.stethos.com/prescribe
defines the link to the shown page.
Copy

Copies the selected Quickset. The copy will be saved into the custom Quicksets folder (C:\ProgramData\IBS_CC\QuicksetsCustom). The Quickset name in the drop-down list will also indicate that this is a custom Quickset.

Use this button to create a copy of an existing Quickset, so you can modify it according to your requirements.

Edit Some Quicksets have numerous settings. You may edit them with an ASCII Editor ( Notepad++) or install W-ELP (IBS server version for MS Windows) and use the "Rule Assistant" to edit them in a nice user interface.

Note: The key REM in section global with the syntax: Rem=IBS_CC:Edit=TRUE enables the edit button. This is only the case for custom Quicksets.
Set If you would like to apply those settings, click here and download the configuration file. Immediately following the next data stream is already processed according to these settings.
Warning: Any existing configuration will be overwritten.
Test If you would like additional information pertaining to the selected Quickset, click this button. If the corresponding Quickset was applied before or not, you will receive a more detailed function description. If the set was applied, then the explained function is performed instantly.
Remove The Quickset is removed from the device.
Import from W-ELP In case you have a valid configuration and even maybe a print file for testing the configuration, you may here import the files to download them to a device. Hint: You can set W-ELP in the administration tab into DIMM mode. In that case the windows based version behaves like the printer device. A list of which key is supported and is not supported can be found here.
Export to ELP If W-ELP is installed on the PC/Notebook, then config files can be exported and most likely be changed, using the W-ELP user interface.

The available Quicksets in the none Enhanced Mode are:

Barcode 2D Field Delimiter Allows to send the text flags GS, RS, FS and EOT in addition to the HEX values.
Forms Management Date Time (GER or US) Stamps every page with date and time in either Germany or US date format. Both Quicksets are available in two print positions on the paper: High or Low
Forms Management Page Number Stamps every page with the page number on the left side of the document.
Free Escape (Caret or Tilde) If you have problems (e.g. from in a Host Environment) to print the ESC (0x1B) Character the Free Escape functionality allows to redefine the ESC to the Caret or Tilde Character.
Outlook Greyscale Ensures that any print from Outlook is not generating a color output.
Outlook Greyscale Duplex Ensures that any print from Outlook is not generating a color output and also prints in duplex mode to save paper.
PassThrough IBS is called, but will do absolutely nothing simply return the incoming data. Is mainly used to install IBS on the device and license it later. So no more demo watermark will be printed on the page for every PCL5 data stream.
QRCode Watermark (GER or US) Stamps every page with a QRCode containing the Username who prints, the actual Date and Time.
Secure Username Watermark Multiple stamps on every page with the username who prints this document.
[Troubleshooting] Font Analyze Mode Lists all PCL5 font select commands found in the print job, on one or more additional pages at its end.

How to download your own configuration files: convert.ini from W-ELP.

If you have developed your own configuration file name convert.ini (mainly with the W-ELP server based product) you can use the Quickset function to download it directly to the IBS firmware version v9.5 enabled device.

Listed here are the steps that need to be followed for hard drive and SD card devices:

  1. Open the convert.ini file into an ASCII editor (preferred Notepad++).
  2. If the rule Global does not exist, please add the section [GLOBAL]
  3. Make sure the key ELP_Max_Heap= is NOT used, simply erase the key for the config file. If you wish to set the key please make sure you know the maximum size possible, otherwise the printer will crash.
  4. Add to the beginning of the rule Global a new line with the key:
REM=Description what this ini file does. You allowed to have 512 characters maximum for the complete line
  5. Store the file into the custom Quicksets folder of the IBS CC usually at "C:\ProgramData\IBS_CC\QuicksetsCustom".
You may use any explaining file name, but the extension must be .ini, e.g. Config_File_For_Client_X.ini
  6. If you have a test file, copy it into the same QuicksetsCustom directory and name it with the same file name, but extension .prn. You may then use the "Test Quickset" button for fast testing. Another way to test after the next step, is to use the "Test IBS" button with your test file.
  7. Restart IBS CC to reload the Quicksets - select IBS Quickset - mark the printer - select your ini file in the drop-down menu - download it to the device. The next arriving print job will handle the config file. If in step 6 a test file was assigned, attempt immediately.
